Ownership
On full payment you own the unique design, content and source code written for you, including any custom Liquid. That doesn't change based on which option below you pick — ownership and who holds the keys are two different things.
- Third-party tools, Shopify, apps and themes keep their own licences.
- I keep my reusable libraries and methods, and the right to show the work in my portfolio unless you opt out in writing.
Two ways to hold it
Managed
With aftercare, from $30/monthI keep working access to the site, its hosting and its domain so I can actually do the maintenance you're paying for — push fixes, renew certificates, keep things patched and watch the forms. You still own all of it; I'm just holding the keys while I'm the one looking after it. You cover domain, hosting and the retainer.
You can ask for full transfer at any point, including the moment you stop the retainer. There's no exit fee and nothing is held back.
Transfer
No retainerEverything moves into accounts in your name — code, repository, domain and hosting. You pay the registrar and host directly from then on, and you're free to hand the site to anyone else. I'll help with the handover rather than leaving you to work it out.
